About Paradox Footwear

Paradox Footwear is a locally owned, independent shoe store on Elk Ave in downtown Crested Butte, CO.

A wide selection of styles for men, women and children are carefully displayed in an historic mining house dating back to the 1880’s.

Locally owned

Jen Greene bought Paradox in January, 2015 from the original owner who opened the store in 1998. He was ready to retire and Jen was ready to commit to owning a business in Crested Butte again.

Jen first moved to Crested Butte in 1997 with her husband, at the time to purchase The Gourmet Noodle. She worked at the restaurant until 2004, when, after having her third son, decided she needed to be at home with her boys. Jen re-entered the job market around 2010 and worked at several different jobs before landing herself at Paradox. The holiday help shifts soon turned into a more full time gig for Jen. And the small love of shoes she had, soon blossomed into a full blown passion. Shoes are truly amazing. They speak so much about a person’s personality and needs.

Jen loves the fashion piece of her job, and more importantly, being able to really help people with their foot needs on a daily basis. Also, being an integral member of the Crested Butte business community is immensely important to her. Jen is committed to forming relationships with her customers that allow for their specific needs to be met. Everyone working here aims to spread kindness into the world through a positive shoe buying experience. Her boys, Dante, Nico, and Rocky are now 20, 18 and 17 and are thrilled for their Mom!

OWNER RESPONSE:

The answer to this is yes, we do. We absorb that cost and don’t pass it on to the customer. In addition, we support many local non-profits including The Crested Butte Music Festival, The Crested Butte Arts Festival, The Crested Butte Wildflower Festival, Crested Butte Community School PTA and Booster Club, and anyone who asks for an in kind donation. Your dollars really do go further when you shop at a small, local store.
